Let's Make a Difference Together!

Hello Hello! Happy Wednesday!

Last week was a hard week for me but I feel a pep in my step this week and I am so thankful for it! The sun is shining, it seems like everyone’s spirits tend to by lifting a bit from the corona-craziness, and i’m so excited for what I am announcing today!

A couple weeks ago I read an article that broke my heart. A young family had lost their entire income because of covid-19 and they had a two year old baby and another on the way. They were living off top ramen until the husband was able to goto a food bank to get groceries. When I read it, I imagined myself when I was pregnant and I couldn't even fathom going through such hardship while being pregnant. I knew I had to do something and so that led me to create some hats & tee’s to support families in crisis during this time!

I’ve created embroidered hats and a crop tee that say ‘Live in Love’ to help support families in need during this time. The saying live in love has been on my heart over the last couple of months and it has turned into somewhat of a life motto for me. In everything I do I aim to live in love. We have a very tangible way we can live in love during this season and that is to help feed families in need!

I will be giving 100% of the proceeds from hat & tee sales this month to Feeding America to help feed families and children in need during this time. Feeding America is doing incredible things right now to help families that are facing economic hardship and so I feel so blessed to be able to be a small part in supporting them!

There are a couple different hat options and the crop tee is SO CUTE! All styles have live in love embroidered on them and my hope and prayer is that these pieces inspire you to live in love in every season of life.

You can shop the hats and tees HERE!

My Spring Capsule Wardrobe

With all the extra time at home recently, i’ve had time to go through my closet to organize and purge. Recently i’ve been drawn to the idea of a capsule wardrobe. I seem to go through phases in my style preferences. Sometimes I love colors and patterns and trends and in other seasons I’m all about minimizing, comfortable basics, and timeless pieces. As i’m trying to be a more conscious shopper and shop more ethically and sustainably, i’m back on a kick to own less and do more with each piece of clothing I own.

When thinking about this Spring, simplicity is what comes to mind. Most of us are spending most of our time in our homes these days and it can be easy to wear the same ol’ sweatpants every day. I’m definitely the queen of athleisure and opt for wearing joggers and tee’s on most days but I also want to have a few other pieces I can put a quick outfit together that is a little more elevated. I plan on wearing distressed denim, basic comfy tees, and simple leather sandals on repeat. My goal is to have a few go-to outfits and then accessorize with cute headbands and statement earrings. I’ve divided my Spring Capsule by Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, and Accessories so you can see all the pieces in my collection. All of these pieces I either currently own or am eyeing to purchase this Spring. I hope this is helpful for you! Would love to know what’s in your capsule for this Spring?!

PS: I plan on shopping mostly sustainable and slow fashion brands. I am trying to be more mindful in my shopping but you will see some fast fashion options on here. It’s definitely a slow progression and I can’t afford to buy slow fashion for everything but I believe that buying things with intention, not mindlessly, is the intention i’m trying to go by!

Golden Mylk Recipe

Hi friends! I hope you all are having a good start to your week. Just another week of quarantine! For the most part I have been loving this extra simple time at home but I am ready to be able to goto the beach again. I don’t know about you, but i’m definitely feeling the collective stress from all of this coronavirus craziness. As much as i’ve been trying to stay calm and focus on the present, it’s hard knowing that so many people are suffering out there. I’ve been having a harder time falling asleep recently and so I started making this golden mylk every night and it has been helping calm my mind and fall asleep faster! Traditional golden mylk combines milk, turmeric, and ginger to make a soothing milk that is known to boost immunity and ease digestion. I add raw honey, chamomile flowers, and ashwagandha to mine to add even further healing elements. Chamomile is known to be calming to the nervous and ashwagandha is an adaptogen that helps the body in times of stress. Ashwagandha is also known to be a powerful hormone balancer.

I make enough golden mylk at one time to last me about three days. I now look forward to this comforting drink every night! I hope you like it!

INREDIENTS

3 cups nut milk of choice

1 1/2 tsp ground Turmeric

1 inch ginger root grated

1 Tbs chamomile flowers (or two bags of chamomile tea)

1/2 tsp salt

1 Tbs raw honey

1 tsp Ashwagandha

Dash of cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

  • add all ingredients to a sauce pan and simmer for 15 minutes

  • drain the liquid to remove the spices

  • pour desired amount into a mug and add a dash of cinnamon on top

  • save the rest in the fridge for up to three days

Gluten Free Berry Cobbler

glutenfreeberrycobblerrecipe

Hi Friends! I’m so excited to be sharing one of my favorite recipes today. This berry cobbler is a staple in our household and it’s something my husband asks me to make on the weekly! I came up with this recipe because I was craving the blackberry cobbler my mom would make for us growing up. That cobbler was not gluten free and so I knew I needed to make something similar, but healthier! This cobbler can be a dessert or a breakfast dish and it’s so versatile. You can used frozen mixed berries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, or truly any fruit you want! I use either frozen mixed berries from Costco or frozen blackberries. Enjoy!

All Things Cozy & Life Update

BEFORE YOU READ ANY FURTHER—Go get a nice cozy beverage! I’m currently sipping on chamomile tea and just feeling chatty!

How are you doing? Like really. I want to know. It’s been a wild few weeks, hasn’t it? March was stressful in pretty much every way for us. We started the month so excited about transitioning out of the army, moving to a new state, and Danny starting a new career. We didn’t have much planned out but were excited and hopeful for the future. We had friends visiting for a couple weeks and we showed them all around O’ahu and we were even going through all our things and selling, organizing, and minimizing in every way. We were in a groove and ready for this new chapter in our lives.

THEN CORONAVIRUS CRAZINESS BEGAN.

At first, we honestly didn’t think much about it. We weren’t worried at all about traveling or going places and we were still focused on our transition. As the days passed, though, and things became increasingly more alarming, we started to re-think E V E R Y T H I N G. Suddenly, we realized how thankful we were for our situation and didn’t feel comfortable leaving the Army when the economy was crashing, people were losing their jobs, and so many people sick. We are able to quaranteen in our home and put groceries on our table and not have to worry about medical care should we get sick. So many things were put into perspective for us over the last few weeks that we knew we needed to change course and do it FAST.

Honestly, i’m still not sure how all of this is going to pan out. We still have the movers scheduled to come in 14 days. We still have a hotel booked that we are supposed to be staying in during our last ten days in Hawaii. Yet, we put in paperwork to continue our time in the military. It hasn’t gotten processed or approved yet, but we are hoping it does. I can’t even believe I am sharing all of this right now- ha- but like I said, i’m feeling chatty. :)

So that’s where we stand. We have absolutely no idea what the future holds for us, but honestly, I feel like a lot of the world is feeling like that right about now. My heart breaks for all the suffering happening right now- in all the different capacities.

Most days I feel a sense of uneasiness but I know that God has got this. The other day I was feeling so anxious that I went on a drive and sat on an empty beach. I spent some time praying and the Lord reminded me that ‘A man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.’ (Proverbs 16:9) It felt like we had a set course but it seems like God had other plans and I KNOW that God’s plans are the best plans. I’m starting to feel the anxiety lift and the peace come in.

SO that is where I am at! It feels nice to write all of this out and i’m glad I’m sharing all of this hear rather than on Insta-stories. If you are actually reading this then you are a REAL homie and I am so grateful for you. <3
